SurePress® is an innovative line of press fittings that visually confirms a pressed connection. Green indication fills windows once pressed, confirming a successful seal. This allows installers and inspectors to quickly identify if a fitting has been pressed prior to pressure testing. Simply press the fitting, see green and go!

A press x FNPT female adapter is a fitting that transitions from a copper press connection to a female threaded connection. One end of the SurePress adapter has a press socket for copper tube, and the other end has internal threads (female NPT). This lets you connect copper piping to any standard male-threaded component. Common uses include attaching a threaded valve, water heater nipple, or fixture stub-out to a copper supply line. In summary, the SurePress female adapter allows you to go from copper press pipe to a threaded pipe or appliance in one convenient fitting.
First, press the adapter onto the copper pipe: insert the pipe into the press end fully and use the press tool to crimp it, just as you would with any press fitting. It’s often best practice to press the connection before attaching the threaded side, to avoid putting torque on a freshly pressed joint. Once the press side is secure, you can thread the male pipe or fixture into the female end. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads of the mating part, then screw it into the SurePress adapter’s FNPT end and tighten with a wrench. The adapter’s robust brass body can handle typical tightening force. Now you have a sealed threaded joint on one side and a pressed copper connection on the other, all without having to solder near the threads.
Yes. On the press side, the connection is sealed by the crimped O-ring just like any SurePress fitting, providing a reliable water-tight joint. On the threaded side, the adapter is made of lead-free forged brass for strength (brass is used because threads require hardness and durability). When properly taped/dope and tightened, the thread joint is water-tight as well. SurePress female adapters carry the same pressure rating (generally 200–300 psi for water) as the rest of the press system. They are designed for permanent installations – once pressed and threaded, the connections will remain leak-free under normal operating conditions. Always remember to support the adapter with a wrench when threading to avoid undue stress on the pressed joint.
They are available in the typical pipe sizes to match common plumbing applications. For example, you can get ½″ press x ½″ FNPT, ¾″ press x ¾″ FNPT, and 1″ press x 1″ FNPT female adapters in the SurePress line quickfitting.com . (In many cases the thread size corresponds to the copper size, e.g. a ¾″ adapter has ¾″ female iron pipe threads.) These cover the majority of use cases like connecting to shower valves, water heaters, or irrigation equipment. Each size is manufactured to the same standards – lead-free, pressure-rated, and with the SurePress green press indicator – so you can choose the size knowing it meets code for potable water and will install just as easily as any other SurePress fitting.
Absolutely. SurePress fittings are compatible with all major press tools and jaws, so contractors can use their existing hydraulic press tools (RIDGID®, Milwaukee®, etc.) to install these adapters quickly and reliably.
